The pale-yellow, lemon-scented oil obtained from the leaves of a tropical Asian grass (Cymbopogon nardus), used in insect repellents and perfumes. Citronella is a grass that grows in some Asian countries and some islands of the South Pacific. At Naissance, our Citronella essential oil is steam distilled from the fresh leaves of the grassy plant grown in Indonesia. Citronella is part of the Cymbopogon family which includes Lemongrass, and it takes its name from the French word meaning “lemon balm”.
